Whether it is that time after a long day at work or a weekend staycation, all of us need a calm and relaxing place to re-energize and get back into our usual balance. There is no place better to do so than our own home. In your own private Zen oasis, you can rearrange your thoughts, calm your spirit, and also, dedicate time to nurturing your body, your skin, and hair. But you may wonder how to turn your home from an ordinary space to a real sanctuary, which urges you to unwind and relax.

That is why we bring you a couple of useful tips that will help you create a much-needed self-care Zen oasis.

Opt for calming colours

It is a widely known fact that colours can influence our mood in different ways. That is why it is important to make sure that your personal space for relaxation is full of white, pale pink, or green, for instance. There are, of course, other divine nuances that you can decide to paint your sanctuary into, which will have a soothing and calming effect on you. But, we can say that a cool white will help you clear your mind, a pale pink will calm you down and make you think of all the happy moments in your life, and vibrant green will spark creativity, while at the same time making you feel like you are outdoors, surrounded by nature.

Treat yourself with a luxurious self-care ritual

While you want your Zen oasis to help you calm your mind and re-energize your soul, you mustn’t forget about your body. If you have a bathtub in your bathroom, fill it with water and some scented bath salts. Turn on your favourite Spotify playlist, put on a fun microfibre shower cap so that your hairstyle doesn’t get ruined, and fill in a glass of Prosseco. In case you have a shower, you can still treat yourself with a home spa. Opt for an organic shower gel, a natural and the best shampoo for oily hair out there, and nurturing body oils that will make your skin feel soft, and will also enrich the atmosphere with a lovely scent. After a treatment like this, you will truly feel like you have been reborn.

The self- care ritual doesn’t end here, so once you are out of the bathtub/shower, go straight to the kitchen. Once more, you want to treat your body with only natural ingredients, so make a quick home-made face mask. Once this is done, make sure that the mask doesn’t get into your hair by using a headband, and dedicate half an hour to reading a book that has been on your list for a long time. This way, you will simultaneously nourish your body and your mind.

Get some greenery

Plants can be a part of the home décor that not only looks incredibly aesthetically pleasing but also bring about a touch of nature and tranquillity into any home. Some gorgeous houseplants even help purify the air in an apartment, so if you arrange them in your bedroom, for example, the quality of the air will improve and you will sleep much better. Moreover, you can hear that some people claim that just by looking at their houseplants, they instantly feel better. So, don’t hesitate to enrich your space with a few plants. You can place them on the shelves, or in the corners of the room if they are bigger in size.

If you don’t have too much time to dedicate to watering and minding them, go for the plants that are easy for maintenance. Additionally, pay attention to the pots in which you will keep these little pieces of nature. Choose the ones that are in the colors that will fit in with the rest of the décor and thus complete the interior design of your private self-care sanctuary.

Let the light in

Strokes of sunlight in the morning will instantly make you feel more awake and full of positive energy. However, you should embrace natural light throughout the day, as it will have a marvellous effect on the way you feel. Remove the curtains and open the windows, whenever you can. In the evenings, the use of artificial light is unavoidable, but you can be creative and light a few scented candles to get a more peaceful atmosphere.

Finally, we can say that a personal Zen oasis is something that everybody needs. So, follow the abovementioned tips and create your own self-care sanctuary. There is no doubt that you will thoroughly enjoy it.
